Doutor em Direito pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), com período sanduíche no Max-Planck-Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte [Instituto Max Planck de História do Direito Europeu] (MPIeR), Alemanha. Doutorando em Ciência Política pela Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Alemanha. Possui mestrado em Direito pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2011). Professor em cursos de pós-graduação lato sensu e graduação. Membro pesquisador do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Sul (IHGRGS). É editor-executivo do periódico Revista da Faculdade de Direito UFRGS (2016) e da Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Sul (2015). Foi editor-executivo da Cadernos do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Direito PPGDir./UFRGS (2013-2016).
